Is it realistic to find an Off Market home to Buy?

We are the king of the Off Market home sale.

How can we confidently proclaim such an immodest title? 

We see and participate in, off market transactions every week. But it wasn’t deliberate. We didn’t set out to own this market share or be the experts in it. It was, in fact, purely accidental … a byproduct of staying independent (and keeping the same phone number that an AWESOME Verizon representative suggested to us in the last millennium).

Allow me to explain.

Our consistency allowed us distraction-free-decades. No frantic “New Number!” or company name changes, new contact info to contend with; no “Let me tell you about my new company” calls. 

We elected to NOT interrupt our clients with our selfishness. We manned our phones and practiced live pick-ups whenever possible. Eight, twelve, twenty years later answering the phone, I’d get hit with:

“…a voice from the past!”

“Remember our starter home from 2004 ?…..”

“… and I’m retiring now.”

“we are sooo out of space now”

“we’ve adopted two dogs and our condo association is up our backside”

What an honor all these calls of trust were (still are)! And because we are detached from the outcome or pressuring of solicitation to write your mortgage, we got to actually listen to you speak (and not drool over a potential commission).

Listening led to questions; providing answers and lending guidance when asked for it. And most importantly it led to helping solve a problem …. our Primary Purpose as a business.

Every home move or relocation represents a solution to a problem or is an aspirational goal. You’re either propelled out, or you’re allured in. Push or a Pull. 

There’s a deeper “Why” in there, isn’t there?

What if your problem was someone else’s solution?

The overstuffed top floor condo that you need to sell becomes the utopia destination for the engaged couple currently living below grade at their future in-laws where the only exterior view is the mailman’s passing ankles and a sprinkler spigot.

If we weren’t listening to that idle small chat it would dissipate like exhaled breath on a cold morning.
